Preston North End V Middlesbrough at Deepdale : Match Preview
Louis Moult is not expected to be involved in Preston's home clash with Middlesbrough.
The club have submitted the paperwork to complete the striker's switch from Motherwell but he will not be in the squad.
Boss Alex Neil must decide whether Greg Cunningham, who is only recently back from a knee injury, can handle two games in three days.
Paul Huntington, Ben Davies, Ben Pearson, Jordan Hugill, Chris Maxwell and Tom Barkhuizen have all featured heavily over the festive fixtures so far and could be rested if Neil opts to freshen up his squad.
Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis could have Fabio back for the trip.
The Brazilian defender was unwell at half-time in the clash with Bolton and missed Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa, but he may yet recover in time to travel to Deepdale.
Pulis made three changes for his first game in charge, with Rudy Gestede starting the game alongside Britt Assombalonga in attack and Daniel Ayala and George Friend also starting.
The Welshman may make more changes as he assesses his squad over a busy run of fixtures.
